World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to boost the stats of a particular item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats.
The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high dependent on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the number of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item.
item upgrading is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.
Using the item level can help players evaluate the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a sign of the item's damage and its quality. Comparing items from a vendor's stock is possible using the item level.
The item level can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full item description, including its value. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are several theories on how the calculation of the item's level is done. One theory is that the level is a number that comes from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different values, and also that sockets have gems that increase the overall value of the item. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is typically close to Blizzard's real item level.
However, this is not the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl because the level of the region the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, such as by adding an additional level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher value.
Item Stats
The stats of an item are a major part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods on an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by the player's level.
The upgrades to items add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, while items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.
Another method to alter the stats of an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all sizes and shapes. The affixes can be used to provide items with extra damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to make them unique by putting a name on them.
Currently, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. It will cost a set amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.
Players can choose to upgrade an item by a specific stat or reroll affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat in the same range, unless it's a unique item, or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another thing that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or deciding which stats to increase. But as with base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player increases the chance of finding items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves, and is therefore more valuable in early game runs than later ones as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.
Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. They can also be enhanced by using anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to give +40 Luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.
Moreover some items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be used to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be purchased at the store or crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item if it is not successful.
The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limits to how much success rates can be increased and the chance of an upgrade failing cannot be greater than 100%..
The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the Luck of that item. Each item has an initial success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases that chance by an additional five percent.
The upgrade overlays of the item are displayed above items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
